Ancient PSYCHOLOGY... OR, DISCOVERING THE "WHOLE HUMAN BEING"
PREFACE:
My work over the last thirty plus years has been that of an Esochologist, or Esogist for short. And what makes Esochology different than "psychology" as "psychology" is practiced today... is that Esochology is what the ancient Greeks intended Psychology to be. And, after a century of misdirection, a bit of explanation is required.
Even during my Masters training in psychology/psychotherapy, I realized that my view of the Psychology of the ancient Greeks was "different" that what I was being taught. But, I did not truly comprehend how different my view was until I sought out a Gestalt psychotherapist, and used this opportunity to effect an enlightening catharsis during my first session of psychotherapy.
The "effectiveness" of Gestalt Psychotherapy is that it has the ability to "fool" the MIND, and to cause the MIND to reveal repressed emotional content hidden within the MIND to the conscious awareness of individuals when practiced by a competent and properly trained individual. Alas, the "problem" with Gestalt Psychotherapy is that it is practiced by individuals who are not "ready" to practice this most effective process.
The very process of Gestalt is in itself effective, and thus, it can be physically practiced by people who have no idea what they are doing? And the result of this can be even more harmful than the fully ineffectual practice of intellectualism that is commonly taught as the oxymoron "behavioral psychology".
The "problem" is that when people are facilitated to an awareness of deeply repressed misperceptions hidden within their MINDs, they are very vulnerable to what they experience. And unless this confusion is properly addressed - only possible by someone familiar with the Esoteric MIND - the MIND of the person tends to reinforce the revealed misperceptions, increasing the "conflict" of the person.
As I say, individuals who are quite incompetent are licensed today to conduct "treatment" that is quite harmful. The reason for this is that the training of modern mental health, or "BS&bp" [Behavioral Science and the oxymoron "behavioral psychology"] is the standard format today, and this training is based on a fully intellectual approach to both the treatment and study of Man. A format that denies and avoids the Esoteric 3/4ths of Man and of Life. This has been the case for almost a century.
When I began my Masters in psychology and psychotherapy, I had no idea how different my views of these subjects were from what was being taught. But, as I have said, I was not clear how "different" my views were until I experienced my own Gestalt psychotherapy in 1978. The result of my catharsis was instantaneous, and continued to awaken from "within" me bits and pieces of the Reality of the Esoteric operations of Man, and of Life for several months following my experience. The term "Psychology" uses the prefix "psyche", and by use of this term, the ancient Greeks [many of whom were Gnostics, by the way... which means they were quite aware of the Spirituality of Man], fully intended their term Psychology to indicate that it was a study of the Esoteric dimensions of Man.
The Greek term "psyche" is defined as "Self, Soul and Mind". And these are "abstract terms" that "stand for" and "point to" the Esoteric dimensions of Man.... Which cannot be perceived by the physical brain, or ones physical senses. Today, both the MIND of Man, and the Soul of Man are just ignored as part of BS&bp. Those confined to intellectualism [a fairly large portion of the world] are simply unable to "see" [which means experience] the Esoteric dimensions of Man, or of Life.
This is precisely what Christ meant when he said this to his disciples as quoted in the Bible.
The Whole Human Being, or "WHB" [and every human being is a Whole Human Being], is composed of four simultaneously existing and yet, entirely separate vibrational dimensions, all of which share the same time and space. This combination of separate vibrational dimensions comprise the "Whole Human Being, or WHP. Only one of these dimensions is physical and capable of being perceived by ones brain and physical senses.
Therefore, when B.F. Skinner [who knew nothing of the Psychology of the ancient Greeks] suggested to those in the field of Psychology in the early 1900's, that it would be better to focus on the physical dimension of Man only [and by doing so ignore 3/4ths of Man], the fields of mental health and "psychology" began to change. But, the change was simply dropping the search for the Esoteric, and this change was met by the MINDs of individuals as a great step forward.
What most people failed to comprehend at the time, and since, is that it is the purpose of the MIND of Man to keep Man in the dark regarding the Esoteric dimensions of Man, and of Life. So... when those supposedly interested in discovering the Esoteric dimensions of Man, and of Life [the field of Psychology], decide they too will cease their search for the Esoteric.... Mankind is in for a dark period.
And this precisely "fits" with the tenor and tone of what the mystics tell us has been the Iron Age of Man. The darkest and most negative Age of Man. Which has lasted many thousands of years, by the way, and which is about to change on December 21, 2012, [according to the Mayan Calendar].
The question is: Why would modern mental health, and science, insist that the only valid dimension of Man requiring study is the physical dimension? The answer is that this idea is not generated within a person's brain, it is an idea that is "fed to the brain" by ones MIND. And if one is not familiar with the difference between his brain and his MIND, he is bound to "think" what his MIND wants him to think. To research this point: Try This. And this is yet another fact most people do not realize, primarily because modern mental health [or BS&bp] has failed to awaken people to this fact.
Much of what people fail to realize, especially about the Esoteric dimensions of Life, remains "unknown" to them because they are not told how to discover the Esoteric dimensions within themselves... nor are they told that the Esoteric dimensions of Life cannot be known by thinking. Nor are they told the reason for this? And the reason they are not told.... is that those responsible for telling them do not realize these things themselves.
Esochology is specifically defined as a study of the Esoteric dimensions of Man from within those Esoteric dimensions themselves. And what is most bizarre about Esochology is that it cannot be studied by the brain or thinking. Esochology must be studied by use of ones faculty of Intuition. And who among Americans has been taught to use his or her faculty of Intuition?
